About Me

profile

Andrea L. Middagh, MS, LPC

During my training to become a therapist I worked in a psychiatric unit for individuals who were a threat to themselves or others. After I graduated with a master’s in counseling, I continued to work at the psychiatric unit.  This experience propelled me to better understand and assist others who are struggling to live and how their journeys began.  I then procured a job at the United States Department of Veteran’s Affairs in both the mental health and homeless veteran sectors. I witnessed soldiers continuing their internal battles but sometimes had trouble communicating the mental and emotional scars they continued to carry. I made it a point to get training in a specialized trauma treatment called EMDR (eye movement desensitization reprocessing) to help alleviate the struggles trauma can contribute to people's lives. Unfortunately, due to the constraints of my role in the VA, I was not able to utilize my specialty. With a growing passion to help others, I started my own online private practice.

Today I help an array of populations with various stressors, not only trauma.  I learned, and I'm continuing to learn, that stressors present in so many ways and our reactions to them vary due to the uniqueness that is innate within all of us. My counseling approach is not a one-size-fits-all approach, it is about knowing what works for you and building a safe and nonjudgmental space for you to feel free and able to share. I am the co-pilot that will help you see the areas of your life that maybe you forgot about or never realized was a strength. Working side-by-side with my clients is an honor and seeing the healing process begin fills me with joy.
